Produces a clean, malty beer. Pleasant ester character, can be described as “bready.” Can ferment successfully, and clean, at higher temperatures. This yeast combines good flocculation with good attenuation.

“I HAD AN INKLING TO TRY”
I had an inkling to try and create an ale that was similar in taste and aroma as a Maibock lager… but without using any colder fermentation or pseudo-lager techniques. This yeast was the last missing piece I needed. Definitely should be a year-round strain. It fermented perfectly at 70deg F. No off-flavors or diacetyl. Also flocculated very well, leaving a nice clear beer. Left me with a finished product that had a nice, clean malty aroma, very pleasant malt taste, and little in the ways of “ale-iness” overall. Great great yeast indeed!!
“WORKED WELL”
It had been suggested that I not use the dry yeast that comes with the kit so I ordered WLP009 from Northern Brewer. Worked well, my only drinks the Cooper opa from the store and she liked what I brewed, success……
“NICE STRAIN”
This was much more attenuative than I anticipated. Ferments quick, and did not produce much krausen – I had to take gravity readings to make sure it was working. Nice subtle ester profile, bready. Nice strain. One down side is it does not create a tight sediment – be careful racking or you will suck up yeast.
